Grammy award winner Vishwa Mohan Bhatt is a well-known international artist, and expert improviser. His performance assimilates the styles and techniques of sitar, sarod, veena and guitar on the revolutionary 20-string instrument of his own invention, the mohan veena. His performances are characterised by his speed and creativity in combining both the tantrakari, (plucked string) and gayaki (mimicing vocal music), styles. Bhatt won a Grammy Award for his 1993 album A Meeting by the River with legendary guitarist, Ry Cooder. This concert also features Rajkumar Misra, a versatile and prolific tabla player, from an illustrious family of some of India’s most distinguished musicians and dancers.
