We’re actively recruiting for both new and experienced trustees to join our Board of Directors as we move into our next phase of growth as a charity.
The opportunity
Milap would like to invite candidates to express their interest in joining the Board of the organisation at a significant and exciting period of our development. We are embarking on an important phase in our history, and we need a strong, diverse and supportive Board to help achieve this. Board members must share a passion and enthusiasm for our work. The role will be voluntary and for a minimum term of three years. The Board usually meets quarterly in Liverpool, plus 1 away day per year.
Who can apply?
It is vital that applicants have an interest in Indian Arts and what we do. You will have a clear understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, liabilities, and responsibilities of Board Directors. You will also display high integrity and openness, combined with a clear commitment to good governance and assist us in shaping an equal, diverse, and inclusive organisation.
We welcome expressions of interest from both experienced trustees as well as those who may be embarking on their first trustee role.
Milap is deeply committed to fostering diversity within our governing body. We actively pursue a broad spectrum of experiences and backgrounds, encouraging applications from individuals representing ethnically diverse backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ communities, persons with disabilities, and those hailing from working-class origins, currently underrepresented in prominent arts positions. In seeking new members, we particularly invite applications from individuals belonging to the global majority, ensuring ethnic diversity on our Board remains in harmony with our organisation’s values.
We are especially interested in candidates with significant experience, knowledge or skills in one or more of the following areas:
- Finance / income generation – trustee oversight and support
- Arts and / or charity leadership
- Content creation and digital strategy
- Education and/or young people
Being a charity trustee also means you will make a contribution to:
- Fundraising – trustee oversight and support
- Legal compliance
- Governance
** Please note that being Board Member of a registered charity is a voluntary role ( it is not a paid position).
** Interested candidates who are based outside of the UK may be considered for a role on Milap’s International Advisory Board (also voluntary).
I’m interested, how can I be considered?
