SAMYO turns Indian musical convention on its head with its 2018 theme ‘FIRE’. Exploring musical Fluidity, Intersection, Recrafting and Escape – the orchestra stretches expectations of Indian classical music by melding different influences in all of its new compositions. Expect both the familiar and the unexpected in the signature, exuberant style of music which has been reinvented for 2018.
Milapfest present their annual showcase of Indian orchestral and choral music, and their signature modern, classical style. Samyo is the National Youth Orchestra for Indian Music, and the only one of its kind in the world. A unique phenomenon, it is the only youth orchestra to combine both North and South Indian music traditions with contemporary orchestral elements and world music influences.
Samyo will also be joined by Sabrang, the National Youth Choir for Indian Music. The choir is made up of outstanding young vocalists from both the Carnatic and Hindustani traditions. Their harmonious melodies will uniquely support and uplift Sabrang’s signature creative sound to create a very special concert experience.
