The beautiful melodic tones of the violin weave into the rhythmic mastery of the mridangam, kanjira and tabla in this very special concert experience.
Shreya Devnath is a student of the legendary Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman, currently under the guidance of Sri Lalgudi GJR Krishnan, and strives to be a worthy representative of this prestigious school of music. She has been actively performing within and outside India for the last seven years. She performs dual roles, mainly as a soloist, but also as an accompanist, performing alongside various other artistes.
Reviewers and connoisseurs of music have expressed their appreciation of her talent in no uncertain terms. Excerpts from some of her reviews read: “Her violin sings”; “Played with Effortless Ease”; “She was classy”; “Voice of the Violin”; “In Lalgudi’s footsteps”, “A Scintillating Performance”, and so on. Her music is characterized by substance and freshness with paramount importance given to aesthetic beauty. It is music for the mind and soul, a journey for the artiste and the audience.
Joining Shreya on mridangam is RN Prakash, a versatile artist from Bangalore, South India. He has been playing wide range of percussion instruments since a young age and has performed extensively across the world. On kanjira is a rising young star of the Generation Next music scene, Pujenthan Sivagurunathan, and on tabla is a stalwart of the Music for the Mind and Soul series, percussion master, Kousic Sen. Kousic will join the talented trio in the second half of this amazing concert.
