with a Post-Show Concert from Anil Srinivasan & Kousic Sen

Wednesday 25th October 2017, 7pm

The Bhavan, London

The National Indian Arts Awards are a prestigious ceremony recognising and celebrating great talent and achievement in Indian Arts in Britain and internationally. South Asians, who migrated to England over the past 70 years, have always aspired to ensure that their children, as well as the local communities, have generous opportunities to learn about their arts and heritage through teaching and performances. Up and down the British Isles there are schools, classes, and art organisations working tirelessly for this cause. However, whilst there are numerous ways of recognising the sterling contribution of those in Business, Finance, Medicine, and other professional categories, until the establishment of these awards, there has never been any national ceremony that recognises and celebrates such dedicated work in the Arts. The ceremony will honour not only the professionals and artists whose contribution has made such a lasting impact in their field, but the rising stars who are creating a vibrant future for Indian Classical arts.

The awards ceremony will be followed by a celebratory concert featuring world renowned Madras pianist, Anil Srinivasan. Anil will be joined by Kousic Sen, an accompanist known both for his boundless skill & energy. Together they will present a soul-enriching performance which encapsulates their unique way of mordernising yet celebrating classical Carnatic music. As one of the world’s first innovators of the piano in Indian music, Anil’s concerts guide audiences through a unique exploration of classical Indian melodies. With Kousic Sen’s tabla mastery lifting this concert to unimaginable heights, this concert will be the perfect way to commemorate the night celebrating the very best in Classical Indian arts.
