Continuing Milapfest’s special Jugalbandi themed season of Music for the Mind and Soul concerts is Sarod superstar, Pandit Ranajit Sengupta and accomplished sitarist Ashim Chowdhury. They will be accompanied by Tabla maestro Kousic Sen.
As one of the most established Sarod players in the world, Pandit Ranajit Sengupta is the winner of many prestigious music awards (including the President’s Award, HMV’s Best Talent of the Year, Alauddin Memorial Award & Nikhil Bannerjee Memorial Award). He is also a fellow of the Ministry of Culture for the Indian government and he regularly lectures in universities across the world. Ranajit is widely recognised as one of the leading Sarod musicians of our time, having toured extensively all over the world and collaborated with a wide range of musicians, which have influenced and enriched his own practice.
Ashim Chowdhury has established himself as one of the most talented Sitar players of his generation, presenting the glorious traditions of the Great Imdad Khani Gharana. Ashim is a regular performer in numerous concerts and conferences in India and around the world throughout the year.
Ranajit and Ashim will be accompanied by internationally renowned tabla artist Kousic Sen, a virtuoso performer who is loved for his incredible skill and creativity.
