We’re delighted to be welcoming Lalgudi GJR Krishnan and Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi, torch-bearers of the famous Lalgudi Gharana, to the UK next month. Exceptional violinists in their own right, they present Samarpanam in tribute to their late father and guru, Lalgudi Jayaraman.
The Lalgudi gharana is a widely admired style of music characterised by its melodic and lyrical expression. The Lalgudi siblings are joined on stage by fellow sibling duo and Carnatic percussionists RN Prakash and Prathap Ramachandra on mridangam and ghatam, two instruments that capture the rich flavour of South Indian music.
Performance dates:
Saturday 24 May, 1pm, The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester
Saturday 31 May, 1pm, The Capstone Theatre, Liverpool
Sunday 8 June, 7:45pm, Purcell Room, Southbank Centre, London
