2013 marks the 40th anniversary of collaboration between the music stalwarts Zakir Hussain (former Samyo tutor) and John McLaughlin (guitar). The duo formed the Indian fusion bad Shakthi, which has now reformed in to Remember Shakthi featuring Mandolin Srinivas, vocalist Shankar Mahadevan and Carnatic percussionist Selvaganesh. They are currently on their European tour and will be performing in London on 21st November at the Royal Festival Hall, next to Samyo’s favourite venue, as part of the London International Jazz Festival.
