Taking place at the Capstone Theatre in Liverpool on Saturday 17th November this seminar session offers a creative writing experience like no other. Designed to appeal to aspiring writers and those wishing to develop their critical thinking skills in response to dance, Sanjoy Roy, a regular contributor to Pulse and dance critic for The Guardian, offers a practical skills set to apply when critically thinking about dance.
Participants will have the opportunity to watch and critically reflect on the performance by writing a review which they will submit the following day. This exercise will put newly found skills into practice and feedback will be received from course tutor Sanjoy Roy.
After a successful launch at this year’s Alchemy Festival, the Art of Critical Writing has been rolled out across the country at Let’s Dance International Festival in Leicester and Dance Xchange in Birmingham. This latest instalment will give a new group of aspiring writers the chance to develop their critical awareness under the direction of Sanjoy Roy, a regular contributor to Pulse and dance critic for The Guardian.
The workshop is suitable for anyone who might be interested in learning more about how to engage with and critic dance performances.
The interactive workshop will precede a professional dance performance by Sonia Sabri at The Capstone Theatre.
Sonia Sabri celebrates the 10th anniversary of Sonia Sabri Company with the national premiere of KAAVISH, a showcase of the Company’s work past and present including a new duet with Bharatanatyam dancer Ash Mukherjee.
