This summer we have a really exciting programme coming up at The Capstone Theatre in Liverpool. Our summer festival, Indika, features some of the world’s finest musicians and dancers, many of whom are travelling from India, Europe andthe USA. Over 11 days, you’ll see artforms from North India alongside those of South India, enjoy unique collaborations, and witness some of the most creative expressions of classical Indian arts.
A traditional Morning Raga concert on 18 August 2012 offers a rare experience, not usually found in the UK. This free concert, with leading Bansuri player Rakesh Chaurasia demonstrates the traditional forms of raga performance, where each raga is specific to a time of day or season.
In addition to the performance programme, a series of free lecture-demonstrations take place daily at 4:30pm covering topics such as Improvisation, The North, South Divide, and Setting the mood; how ragas make a difference.
