Gaurav Mazumdar is a skillful, versatile and popular sitarist, with a wide repertoire and deep knowledge of his art. He started out playing the violin, but was soon discovered by Pandit Ravi Shankar and quickly became a star sitarist, loved and admired around the world for his incredible versatility. Gaurav is a performer, composer and educator and contributed immensely towards spreading Indian music to new audiences. He is also Principal Conductor of Samyo, the National Youth Orchestra for Indian Music.
Ranajit Sengupta is a musician renowned for his energy and incredible skill on the sarod, a stringed instrument of the Hindustani tradition. Smaller than the sitar, the sarod is fretless and therefore able to produce the continuous slides between notes known as meend, which is unique to Indian music. Ranajit is widely recognised as one of the leading sarod musicians of our time and is Milapfest Composer for Samyo & Tarang. He has toured extensively all over the world, and collaborated with a wide range of musicians, which have influenced and enriched his own practice.
