Free Admission

In the first of our special Jugalbandi series, Prabhat Rao, of the Patiala Gharana, is taking to the stage alongside an ensemble of talented musicians. The first half features a beautiful set of North Indian classical ragas delivered in the Khyal style of singing. The second half brings to life the Jugalbandi theme with a unique combination of instruments for a thematic presentation, ‘Colours of Krishna’, which takes listeners on a journey through a variety of works taken from all over India with different interpretations of Krishna.

Prabhat Rao is a leading Hindustani Classical Vocalist of the younger generation. Based in London, he has had rigourous training under Guru Chandrima Misra of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan UK. He demystifies the ancient art form of Khyal and ensures that both learned and new audiences leave with a new appreciation of the style. His training has not only been limited to Khyal, but he has also learnt Carnatic music, Rabindra Sangeet, and Western Classical music on the keyboards. A combination of these musical abilities and grounding in pure classical music makes Prabhat’s concerts an unforgettable experience for everyone present.

Alongside Prabhat is tabla maestro Kousic Sen, accomplished Harmonium artist Dr Mukul Acharya and Nandini Bhat and Diksha Murli on Tanpura.
