Alif Laila is a USA based classical sitarist with a great talent for rendering ragas. She is also a painter, and is widely recognised for her exploration into the conceptual elements of music, looking at colour, tone and texture, as a spontaneous response between artist and instrument. A student of the Maihar Gharana, she expertly blends deep notes, with contrasting high notes to create a freedom of expression characteristic of the style. Alif will be accompanied by expert tabla player Kousic Sen.
