Tarang Orchestra Leader, Raaheel Husain looks back at the last two concerts and looks forward to final concert of the 10 year anniversary tour.
Whether it was rehearsing with tutors in India over Skype, or our new initiative to create a Tarang Whatsapp group, this tour, appropriately titled ‘A new beginning’, has been an extremely interesting and fresh experience for all of Tarang.
The venues we have played so far (Manchester and Liverpool) couldn’t have had better responses. One of the highlights, I must add, in both these venues, was seeing so many familiar faces that we have grown to recognise over the years. The fact that so many people have become supporters of Tarang in this way was truly touching. The feeling of being backstage has become something quite melancholic with each performance and venue reminding us of the year before, taking us as far back as when some of us were in Samyo and 13 years old!
Working towards the London concert always has its own excitement, with most of us being from London. There is always something special about the Purcell Room concert, when many of our family, friends and colleagues come and support us, making the performance a very intimate one. On the 5th of December, the audience can expect a very soothing, and equally energetic performance that takes the listener on not only a tour through the folk traditions of India but also through various genres of World music ranging from Hungary all the way over to Italy!
We all look forward to welcoming you on the 5th December and hope you enjoy our tribute to the folk traditions of the world!
See Tarang perform in Liverpool with Gli Archi del Cherubino on Sunday 23 November and in London on Friday 5th December at Southbank Centre.
