Day 3 at Music and Dance India 2014

Day 3 at Music and Dance India 2014

Today is the third day of Music India and Dance India 2014, and the fourth day of Indika Festival.

Classes today have been continuing with our host of international tutors and support staff. With over 180 people on campus, they’re studying a Indian classical dance in the Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Odissi styles,  and a broad range of classical music from both the Carnatic and Hindustani styles.  We’ll be highlighting some of the different strands and projects the groups are working on through the week so keep your eyes on our blog and social networks for news and snapshots.

This evening’s Indika performances will see a group of six short-listed candidates compete in the Yuva Sangeet Ratna Young Musician of the Year Awards. We’ll see Music India participants and tutors compete alongside visiting artists in an exciting night of incredible young talent.

Continuing the competition theme, our Music India students begin the annual Team Competition preparations today. The team comp is a tradition at Music India that sees mixed groups of Samyo and Tarang members compete against each other to create and perform the most creative, impressive and often ingenious productions. This year’s theme is Glee and music from musicals so we’re very exited to see the results of this one!

Here’s a round up of what’s been happening through some of the pictures that have been captured through the day. Follow us on instagram for regular updates @Milapfest
