Telling Tales; the art of Indian storytelling is a new exhibition by National Museums Liverpool at World Museum. Open from 24 May until 8 September, the exhibition charts the traditions of storytelling in India, and features a family friendly events programme of dance, music and storytelling, produced in collaboration with Milapfest.

In India, you are never far from a good story. It’s a land of epic stories and great storytellers. This vibrant exhibition full of colours, textures, sounds and smells brings India to the heart of Liverpool.
Showcasing the art of seven Indian artists, ‘Telling tales’ explores their work and the stories they tell. From giant painted story scrolls to delicate line drawings, these works show how contemporary Indian artists portray news, current affairs and life in 21st century India.
Discover India’s celebrated Gods and Goddesses who have inspired generations of storytellers. From Ganesha the impulsive and generous elephant god, to Hanuman, who became the fearless, loyal and strong chief of the monkeys. Explore the fascinating Tree of Life and the significance of horses in Indian folklore.
Events programme in collaboration with Milapfest
Don’t miss the special events throughout the summer including dance workshops, musical performances and storytelling in the giant tent.
