Shashank’s main style is Carnatic Classical but he also incorporates patterns of improvisation from Hindustani music and uses a range of flutes to cover octaves that are not supported by the traditional Carnatic Flute. Shashank is known for his intricate and intense raag renditions.
Hailed as a musical genius ever since he burst on to the music scene as a child prodigy, Shashank has blazed a trail with a new style of his own in the South Indian Bamboo flute. As a disciple of Pandit Jasraj, he also has extensive knowledge of Hindustani music, and has been a very successful collaborator in both South Indian, North Indian and various world music ensembles.
