Indika: Veena Jayanthi & Alarmel Valli

This event features a double bill performance of Indian classical music and dance

First half featuring Dr Jayanthi Kumaresh

Quintessentially Carnatic (south Indian), the Saraswati Veena is an ancient stringed instrument with a sweet resonating sound. Dr Jayanthi Kumaresh is India’s foremost veena player, and as a musician, educator and academic, she has developed a strong identity and musical style that can been heard in her compositions.

In this concert, titled JUST ME, Jayanthi performs alone as she explores the unique dimensions and facets of the veena.

“The best and most versatile Veena artiste we have today”. The Statesman
