In the domain of Indian Classical Instrumental Music, Ashim Chowdhury has established himself as one of the most talented sitar players of his generation, representing the glorious traditions of Great Imdad Khani Gharana, who took Ashim under his wing in 1985. Here, he developed the discipline of raga based on the Gayaki / Khayal Ang and understood the essence of Imdad Khani Gharana’s teaching in bringing the soul out of his instrument.
Kousic Sen is an internationally renowned tabla artist. Now based in the UK, his comprehensive knowledge of traditional Indian drums has allowed him to experience new genres of Music, enabling him to work collaboratively with artists around the world for thirty years.
Now, the two come together to present ‘Jhinjhoti’ and ‘Shudh Sarang’ – two meditative and immersive pieces that erupt into exhilarating speed and intricacy.
