The veena has always been considered as an instrument of the Gods. The guiding star in Indian music, this concert showcases the veena at its best with one of the world’s greatest musicians at the helm, accompanied by percussionists of the highest order.

Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh is India’s torch bearer worldwide for Saraswati Veena, the National Instrument of India. The multi-award winning musician has performed in the world’s top venues and festivals and with some of the most sought after artists, including Ustad Zakir Hussain and Shri. R Kumaresh. Blending the traditional and the innovative in her music in terms of content, technique, virtuosity and expression, Jayanthi seeks to express the true voice of the veena, which transcends the boundaries of language and region. She is also the most recent recipient of the Vishwa Kala Ratna award, as part of the National Indian Arts Awards 2018.

Jayanthi is joined by K U Jayachandra Rao, an expressive artist who has dedicated his life to the rhythmic world of the mridangam. His poise, attitude and electrifying magic on stage mesmerises his audience. Kousic Sen is a musician like no other, delighting audiences with his musical precision and mastery and cementing his place as one of the world’s most sought after Tabla artistes.
