Indika 2017 Line Up Announced

Now into it’s 7th year, Indika, Europe’s largest festival celebrating the very best in Indian music and dance, returns to Liverpool’s Capstone Theatre from 21-28th July. Kicking off on Friday 21st July with a very special performance by Tarang, the festival will also feature big names such as Carnatic vocal superstar, Abhishek Raghuram, and Santoor legend, Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, as well as the return of festival favourites Neyvelia Venkatesh (mridangam), HN Bhaskar (violin), Anil Srinivasan (piano) and Jyotsna Srikanth (violin).

Alongside the exhilarating music line up, Indika will also present visually stunning performances from the biggest names in Indian classical dance. Showcasing the beautiful yet diverse styles of Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Odissi, established artistes such as Rama Viadyanthan and Pandit Rajendra Gangani will take to the same stage as newly emerging pioneers such as Vaishali Trivedi and Dakshina Vaidyanthan. In a very special  performance, UK-based dance group, Odissi Collective, present a spectacular new show which blends visually captivating dance and electrifying live music.

Every evening, the Capstone Theatre will play host to a stunning Indika Showcase performance, followed on selected evenings by a Doodles in the Dark performance, where you can continue your evening with a special candlelit concert, the perfect way to unwind after a thrilling showcase performance! A free concert series, Morning Melodies, will feature some of the festival’s biggest stars performing special repertoire that is perfect for the early riser. There will also be a special range of informative workshops and lectures which invite you to peak behind the curtain and hear the festival’s stars give an insight into their craft.
