Instruments India has been awarded funding for further development by Liverpool Hope University’s HEIF Higher Education Innovation Fund. Working with Hope University Senior Lecturer Manuella Blackburn, the new funding will allow Milapfest to develop the website into a downloadable app for mobile phone and tablet devices.
The app will work in tandem with Milapfest concerts, events and educational outreach by helping new audiences access detailed information about the instruments and music heard at events. In addition, the app will be designed to support the interactive learning of Indian music in the classroom through images, video and fact finding.
The Instruments India website was initiated by Dr Manuella Blackburn’s AHRC funded research into the sound recordings of Indian classical music instruments and founded in partnership with Milapfest.
Liverpool Hope University’s HEIF Higher Education Innovation Fund is funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).
