Samyo is the National Youth Orchestra for Indian Music. It is also one of eight NYMOs (National Youth Music Organisations), and was recently awarded support from Arts Council England for a further 2 years from 2013, in an announcement from ACE Chief Executive Alan Davey.
you could say “further support…”..so for a while we will have to do this kind of explanation and then at the transition period just credit ACE..if there’s space for a logo of YM you can just put it in there if there’s space
We are delighted to announce that we have received funding from Arts Council England to continue as one of the eight Youth Music Organisations for the years 2013/14/15.
Our award of £236,280, allows us to continue to provide training, development and performance opportunities for The National Youth Orchestra for Indian Music, Samyo.
What the NYOs do
National youth music organisations offer invaluable opportunities and support for talented young musicians to develop their performance skills across a range of musical genres, regardless of their background.
The eight National youth music organisations operate across the country, carrying out work that supports the Arts Council’s Goal one around talent and artistic excellence and Goal five around access to arts for children and young people, as set out in our strategic framework, Achieving great art for everyone. They will also work closely with Music education hubs to help them to deliver their shared objectives.
Background
National youth music organisations, previously funded through Youth Music, were selected through a solicited funding round following the decision by the Arts Council to take direct responsibility for their funding, acknowledging the important role these organisations play in developing talent and how closely aligned they are with our goals and priorities.
The importance of fostering high level talent through national youth organisations was highlighted in Darren Henley’s Cultural Education: an independent review and emphasised the importance of celebrating the considerable musical achievements and talents of the young people.
