The bamboo flute, or bansuri as its known in India, has a haunting beauty that captures the imagination. Rakesh Chaurasia, nephew and student of legendary musician Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, is an exceptional talent whose ability to communicate immense emotion and feeling is coupled with great technical skill. A child prodigy in his youth, he is now regarded as a leading figure in the Indian classical music genre. Rakesh will be accompanied by highly acclaimed tabla maestro, Kousic Sen.

Rakesh Chaurasia stormed on to the Indian music scene as a child prodigy under the guidance of his uncle, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. The most accomplished of his disciples, Rakesh shows all the promise to carry the Chaurasia legacy to brilliant new heights. He is renowned for his ability to play the bansuri (bamboo flute) in live performances all over the world. As an experienced collaborator, he has recorded and performed music with several ensembles, and has had a prolific career in studio recordings, with many popular CD titles to his name. He has composed music and worked with artists such as the Spanish guitarist Marco Salaun, Indian jazz pianist Louis Banks, and percussionist Taufiq Qureshi, among others.
