Joydeep Ghosh      Surshingar
Kousik Sen            Tabla

The surshingar is an exceptionally beautiful and rarely heard instrument, similar to the sarod in sound and appearance.  With powerful and deep resonance, the surshingar is an extremely difficult instrument to play, making it hard to find musicians who specialize in it. Joydeep Ghosh has mastered the instrument and in this concert plays a selection of rarely heard pieces unique to his gharana (style), while maintaining the purity of each raga. Joydeep will be accompanied by brilliant tabla maestro Kousic Sen.

In association with Darbar Festival.

“Joydeep’s virtousity on the Surshingar is quite remarkable” The Economic Times
